Rogue Creamery Smokey Blue
Rogue Creamery Smokey Blue is a firm-textured blue cheese from the USA that has been cold smoked over hazelnut shells for 16 hours producing a flavour profile that reflects candied bacon & cheese.
Rogue Creamery Smokey Blue is the first of its kind. The cheese is gently cold smoked for 16 hours over a bed of local Oregon hazelnut shell. Its firm smooth texture has a mild smokey, nutty flavour with a hint of sweet caramel. Think blue cheese & candied bacon!
A little history about Rogue Creamery
Rogue Creamery was founded in 1933 by the Vella family & survived the great depression. Tom the original maker of their blue cheeses learnt his trade from the French masters of the Roquefort Association in France in the early 1950’s. Today Rogue Creamery is recognized as one of the most innovative artisan dairies in North American making a range of blue cheeses from local organic milk. Owner David Gremmels is committed to producing handcrafted cheeses using only sustainable techniques.
The dairy is both certified sustainable by Steritech & organic by Oregon Tilth
