This biodynamic Demeter certified Pinot Noir is produced with minimal intervention by Hochkirch Wines in Tarrington, southwest Victoria.

Floral, rich, full nose with a powerful, resonant aroma. The palate has an attractive sweetness balanced with fine tannins and a great structure to produce a long, savoury finish. This stylish wine is a love letter to the vineyard where the fruit is grown according to biodynamic principles then produced with minimal intervention.

A little about Tarrington Vineyards

‘Winemaking is mostly masterly inactivity with little intervention.’

Vineyard elevation is 250m above sea level with a very cool climate. The vineyards are integrated into the farm and thus benefit from the balanced environment of biodynamic practice. Sheep grazing is used regularly to help control weeds and remove unwanted foliage. 

Grapes are destemmed, but not crushed, and undergo wild fermentation in open vats. It is then hand-plunged and pressed before being transferred under gravity to a barrel where they spend 12-18 months, undergoing natural malolactic fermentation in the springtime.
