Cheese, Wine, and Bread, Discovering the Magic of Fermentation in England, Italy, and France by Katie Quinn.
Katie Quinn believes that food connects people and it’s really the story behind the food – the people, the sociology, politics & history – that bring it to life. She’s not wrong. Her new book, Cheese, Wine, and Bread, follows Katie’s journey through England, Italy and France where she discovers the stories and the science behind fermenting cheese, wine and bread. We can’t deny that we’re a little inspired/jealous of her stint as a cheesemonger at Neal’s Yard Dairy in London.
No matter which side of the Oxford comma divide you are on, we can all agree Katie Quinn has managed to narrow in on three essential food groups for her new book. And it’s one of those books that almost defies category. It’s part memoir, part travelogue, part cookbook and filled with quirky watercolours as well as sumptuous photography. Similarly, the author, Katie, is one of those whose career defies categorising; she’s a writer, a podcaster, a YouTube creator and lots more besides.
