About Harper & Blohm

OUR STORY

Growing up in rural Victoria, Harper & Blohm founder Olivia Sutton spent her holidays on the King Island family farm. She’d return to boarding school with 3 kg wheels of King Island Dairy Brie, regaling her school friends with cranberry and cheese toasties for weeks – it was the 90s.

As a small child she could be found helping her grandmother Mona bottle milk on their dairy farm on weekends. These experiences gave the young Olivia a deep respect for the land and farming. It seems from an early age she was destined to have a life in the cheese industry.

After over 15 years working behind the scenes of the cheese industry in Australia and abroad, it was time to share her love of cheese with Melbourne and beyond. Thus, in 2014, Harper & Blohm cheese shop was born, immortalising both grandmothers (Merle Harper and Mona Blohm), at the compact Prince Wine Store site in Essendon.

Dedicated to furthering excellence in Australia’s cheese industry, Olivia has been a cheese judge at both the National Dairy Australia Awards and Australian Food Awards at the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria since 2015.

From the outset, our core focus has always been traditionally-produced cheeses. We value authenticity, provenance, sustainable and ethically sound practices and as such we source only the best possible products from Australia and around the world.

As well as specialty, farmhouse cheeses, you’ll find an array of other artisan products gracing our shelves: house-made lavosh, condiments and crackers, free-range charcuterie, milk and butter, Wild Life Bakery bread, as well as a selection of cheese knives and boards.

In 2018, Harper & Blohm cheese shop took up its current location in Sydney Road, Brunswick. With this move, we were able to build on our experiences at the farmers market grilling Raclette and cheese toasties to expand our kitchen offerings. Visit us in store for grilled cheese toasties, salads and seasonal take home meals prepared by our in-house chef, Ian Alexander.

The online shop offers a monthly subscription service, all your weekly cheese needs, as well as bespoke cheese boxes/hampers available for Click & Collect or delivery across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Read here for more information.
